Kennecott Hits Snag with DNR

The Department of Natural Resources announced at yesterday’s Natural Resource Commission meeting that no decision would be made on Kennecott’s requested State Land Use Lease and Mining and Reclamation Plan until adequate information is provided. This is welcomed news for anyone who has been concerned with the fast-track mentality exhibited by the State of

Michigan concerning this Kennecott project.

SWUP would like to thank all of you who voiced your concerns about Kennecott’s request to lease public lands for their project as well as Kennecott’s incomplete and flawed Mining and Reclamation Plan. The tremendous amount of public concern over this issue played a key role in Rebecca Humphries request for adequate information.

Please check out the following links regarding the DNR's recent request for more onformation.
